No matter the season
The Valence family, owners and managers of Domaine des Appalaches, strive to preserve the land from pollution and respect nature for future generations. Elle a un souci constant de protéger la qualité de l’air et de l’eau, de garder les niveaux de luminosité et de bruits au minimum et de respecter la nature pour les générations futures.
The Municipality of Notre-Dame-des-Bois is proud to be part of Mont-Mégantic’s first international dark sky reserve, and Domaine des Appalaches is participating in this ongoing effort to reduce light pollution in our region.
By continuously and consistently applying this philosophy, it is possible
- to go fishing in pure and clear waters,
- breathe the fresh mountain air and listen to songbirds, and
- watch the shooting stars every year all throughout the month of August.
Getting active as a family
Here are some of the activities you can enjoy at the estate:
- swimming,
- the canoe and kayak,
- bicycling,
- hiking,
- trout fishing.
We are located in the heart of the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve, which provides the best conditions for stargazing. Bring your equipment, we have the environment.
Spring
In spring, the thaw lasts longer, allowing winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy themselves to the fullest!
Once the thaw begins, maple sap flows freely in the region’s many maple groves, filling the air with a sweet scent for the occasion.
The Appalaches Estate is located along the migration route of many migratory birds, including protected species such as the Bicknell’s thrush, which a few lucky visitors have been able to observe in the mountains.
Summer
Our team is enthusiastic about hosting weekend events:
- Fishing festival;
- Quebec Day or Canada Day;
- Family celebration
- And more!
Several small shops are located on the estate, including the Boulangerie du Ciel Étoilé bakery and the Marché des Appalaches market! Encourage them during your next visit.
Autumn
Hunting enthusiasts can practice their sport on government land near the Domaine des Appalaches.
Nature lovers will delight in the rich biodiversity of our region. Deer, moose, foxes, minks, and even lynxes can be spotted by the most observant visitors!
Winter
The following activities can be enjoyed on our peaks, which often remain snow-covered until mid-April:
- cross-country skiing,
- the racket,
- telemark skiing,
- the slide.
Snowmobilers can enjoy several kilometers of trails and connect to the Trans-Québec Trail 525 for longer excursions.
